Engineering Firm Leases Sublease Space in Energy Corridor

HOUSTON – Kiewit Engineering Group has signed a 52,834-square-foot office sublease for the 14th and 15th floors of Energy Tower IV, located at 11750 Katy Freeway in west Houston’s Energy Corridor.

The Energy Corridor remains one of the weaker office submarkets nationwide and currently lists about 2.3 million square feet of sublease space, second only to Houston’s central business district, according to JLL.

Kiewit’s new lease removes a significant portion of that sublease availability.

The leased space will serve as the headquarters for Kiewit’s oil, gas and chemical engineering group.

Based in Omaha, Nebraska, Kiewit provides engineering, procurement and construction services across transportation, oil and gas, power, commercial building, water and wastewater, and mining sectors. The company also maintains an office at 3831 Technology Forest Blvd. in The Woodlands.

Louie Crapitto of JLL represented Kiewit in the transaction, while Andrew Zeplain of CBRE represented the sublessor, BASF.

“This new location places Kiewit’s engineering team at the center of their client base,” said Crapitto. “Given current market conditions, they were able to secure space in a premier office building that provides employees with an excellent work environment to support their operations.”

Energy Tower IV is a 429,157-square-foot Class A office building in the Katy Freeway West submarket. Completed in 2015, the 17-story property sits near Interstate 10 and adjacent to a Hilton Embassy Suites hotel.
