Tilman Fertitta’s New Neighbor: Merus Grill Opens in Uptown Houston

The Merus Grill in Uptown will serve a double-bone pork chop.

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Merus Grill, a new dining concept from the upscale J. Alexander’s Holdings group, is opening in the Uptown Park center in the Galleria area.

The 200-seat, 7,900-square-foot restaurant is scheduled to open on Nov. 18 and will feature steaks, chops, seafood and a lunch menu.

“All of our steaks will be cut in-house,” said Mark A. Parkey, President and Chief Executive Officer of J. Alexander’s Holdings. “They will feature Certified Angus Beef seasoned and char-grilled in a 1,600° Montague broiler. In addition, our fresh chicken will be all-natural and sourced exclusively from Red Bird Farms.”

Merus Grill will be located at 1180 Uptown Park Boulevard inside Uptown Park, an Edens-managed center at the northwest corner of Post Oak Boulevard and Loop 610. By coincidence, the restaurant sits just a couple of blocks from the headquarters of Houston restaurateur Tillman Fertitta, owner of Landry’s restaurant group and the Golden Nugget casino hotels.

This is the first Merus Grill opened by J. Alexander’s Holdings, a Nashville-based company that operates 46 restaurants across 16 states.

A press release from the company describes the concept this way: “Merus Grill is a chef-driven, boutique-style restaurant offering discerning guests a contemporary take on classic American cuisine.”

Merus Grill will be open seven days a week.

Previously, J. Alexander’s Holdings operated a J. Alexander’s location in west Houston near Westheimer and Wilcrest, but that restaurant closed more than a year ago.
