BOCA RATON, Fla. — The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) is now accepting entries for its 73rd Annual Journalism Competition.
The awards will be presented at NAREE’s Real Estate Journalism Conference, June 6–8, 2023 in Las Vegas.
Deadline: Submit entries at www.naree.org between Feb. 1 and March 1, 2023, 11:59 p.m. EST. The competition is open to work published or aired in 2022.

The NAREE journalism competition welcomes reporters, columnists, staff writers, editors, and freelancers who cover residential and commercial real estate, mortgage finance, sustainable development, home building, design, and related fields.
Categories for single-byline work include Best Collection of Work — Residential Real Estate; Best Collection of Work — Commercial Real Estate; Best Column; Best Economic Analysis; Best Architecture Story; Best Interior Design Story; and the Kenneth R. Harney Award for Best Consumer Education Reporting.
For writers published in daily or weekly newspapers, categories include Best Residential Real Estate Story and Best Commercial Real Estate Story.
Magazine writers with a single byline may enter three categories: Best Residential, Best Mortgage, or Best Financial Real Estate Magazine Story.
Teams and individuals can enter categories such as Best E-Newsletter, Best Breaking News Story, Best Investigative Report or Series, Best International Real Estate Story, and Best Multi-Platform Package or Series. Audio and video creators may submit entries for Best Audio Report or Podcast and Best Video Report.
Publications may enter Best Newspaper Real Estate or Home Section, Best Home or Shelter Magazine, and Best Web Site categories.

Prizes include a $1,000 Platinum Award for Best Overall Individual Entry and a $1,000 Kenneth R. Harney Award for Best Consumer Education Reporting. The Best Freelance Collection winner receives $500. Ruth Ryon Best Young Journalist awards (for entrants age 30 or under) include $250 for Gold winners across 29 categories.
Winners will be announced at NAREE’s 57th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference.
Entries will be judged by faculty from the Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University, evaluated on clarity of writing, objectivity, originality, depth of reporting, and graphic design/production.
The competition is open to all professional journalists writing for bona fide independent news outlets, whether or not they are NAREE members.
