Buffalo Heights Mixed-Use Development Tops Out, Construction Milestone

The Buffalo Heights mixed-use project has topped out.

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Arch-Con Construction has topped out the seven-story, 742,000-square-foot Buffalo Heights District mixed-use development at the corner of Washington Avenue and South Heights Boulevard.

The Buffalo Heights District, owned by the Gordy family and developed by Midway, features a design by Ziegler Cooper Architects. The ground floor will house a 96,000-square-foot urban prototype H-E-B, with more than 111,000 square feet of parking dedicated to H-E-B customers on the second floor.

The third floor serves as the entrance level for One Buffalo Heights, a 36,000-square-foot office building, and the project includes separate parking facilities for residents and office tenants.

“As lifelong Houstonians, the Gordy family wanted to create a unique place where people can work, shop, play and live,” said Jonathan Brinsden, CEO of Midway. “This location in the Washington Corridor will allow people to enjoy the bayou trails and more than 1,500 acres of parkland within the city’s urban core.”

Arch-Con’s next tasks include completing the brick façade and windows for the residential portion, installing the aluminum and glass curtain wall on the office section, and finishing the H-E-B storefront.

“We are at an exciting point in the construction process,” said Bryan Tufts, vice president of Arch-Con Construction. “The focus has been on the structure, and now we are able to focus on the exterior skin and interior finishes.”

The top five floors of the mixed-use building contain the St. Andrie, an upscale apartment community with 232 units arranged around outdoor courtyards.

Arch-Con Construction is a Texas-based general contractor that provides commercial design and construction services for real estate developers, building owners, architects, brokers and tenants.

Houston-based Midway’s Houston portfolio includes several prominent mixed-use projects such as CITYCENTRE, Kirby Grove, GreenStreet and Kings Harbor, as well as the redevelopment of the former KBR headquarters into East River and Century Square in College Station.
