Home Sales Surge 256% in The Woodlands Hills Community

In late 2017, a groundbreaking ceremony took place at The Woodlands Hills, a 2,000-acre development north of Houston that has since attracted strong buyer interest.

THE WOODLANDS – (Realty News Report) – Home sales surged in The Woodlands Hills, a new 2,000-acre master-planned community being developed about 13 miles north of The Woodlands.

Developed by The Howard Hughes Corporation, The Woodlands Hills reported its first home sales after the Conroe-area community opened in the second quarter of 2018. Sales accelerated rapidly: the community recorded 121 new-home sales in 2019, compared with 35 in 2018, an increase of 256 percent.

Nearby master-planned communities also saw strong activity. In Bridgeland, home sales rose to 739 in 2019, up 49 percent from 495 homes sold in 2018. In contrast, The Woodlands — the long-established, 28,000-acre master-planned community nearing the end of its build-out — saw a modest decline, with 319 new homes sold in 2019, down 7 percent from 343 in 2018.

Elsewhere in Howard Hughes Corp.’s portfolio, Summerlin in Las Vegas was named the National Association of Home Builders’ “Master Planned Community of the Year” for 2019. Summerlin recorded 1,292 home sales in 2019, a slight increase of 1.3 percent compared with the prior year.

The Woodlands Hills is situated along FM 830 on the west side of I‑45, with property boundaries extending north to FM 1097 and south to League Line Road. Located more than 40 miles north of downtown Houston and positioned between the Conroe and Willis communities, the development falls within the Willis school district. At build-out, The Woodlands Hills is planned to include approximately 4,500 homes.

After decades of development, Dallas-based Howard Hughes Corp. is approaching completion of The Woodlands, its 28,000-acre signature community, which features extensive office space, retail centers and a population exceeding 100,000. The company recently announced plans to relocate its corporate headquarters from Dallas to The Woodlands.
