Pulte Begins Construction on 145-Home Gated Community Near Loop 610

Pulte’s new community is just south of Loop 610.

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Pulte Homes plans to build an 11-acre gated townhome community called Avondale on Main Street, just south of Loop 610 near the Astrodome.

The Pulte site sits at the corner of South Main and West Bellfort, close to a parcel once considered by the University of Texas for a data institute.

Avondale will include 145 townhomes with prices in the low to mid $300,000s. Construction is scheduled to begin this fall, and model homes are expected to open in the first quarter of 2020.

The community will offer two- and three-story homes ranging from approximately 1,490 to 2,618 square feet.

Townhome developer Frank Liu of Lovett Homes has been active in the South Main area, a neighborhood overlooked for decades despite its proximity to the Texas Medical Center. Liu’s firm has a track record of finding infill parcels in areas that have been bypassed and repurposing them for residential development.

The University of Texas parcel near the Pulte site lies about two to three miles south of the upscale West University Place neighborhood and is also close to the Texas Medical Center, which employs more than 100,000 people. Over 10,000 of those employees hold PhD degrees or are medical doctors.
