Builder Launches La Porte Community With $250K Entry-Level Homes

La Porte, Texas – (Realty News Report) – HistoryMaker Homes is developing an attainable housing community in La Porte on Houston’s southeast side, offering new homes starting around $250,000.

Named Artesia Village, the development features homes on 40-foot-wide lots, with some floor plans as compact as 1,440 square feet. The community will total 82 homes at buildout and is situated along State Highway 146 just south of West Fairmont Parkway.

HistoryMaker is offering seven floor plans ranging from about 1,440 to more than 2,918 square feet. Five of those seven base plans are priced below $300,000, a positioning the builder credits to deliberate design choices and efficient construction practices. Mickey Pizzitola, Division President for HistoryMaker Homes, notes that pricing and a strong roster of nearby amenities are expected to create significant buyer interest.

Faced with higher costs for materials like lumber, HistoryMaker says it keeps prices competitive by focusing on efficient exterior elevations and thoughtful interior layouts so buyers don’t sacrifice functional living space. The company also prioritizes allowing buyers to allocate interior finishes and upgrades toward what matters most to them, helping families stay within budget while customizing their homes.

Houston’s housing market has seen sharp appreciation, with existing inventory tight and many builders struggling to meet demand. According to the Houston Association of Realtors, single-family home average prices reached record highs in February, with the average up 16.2 percent year-over-year to $349,963 and the median rising 12.6 percent to $275,900.

Mortgage rates have ticked up modestly but remain historically low. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage recently climbed above 3 percent for the first time in seven months, a shift that could spur buyers off the sidelines to act before rates rise further.

“With the current market’s steady escalation of home prices, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find a home below $300,000,” Pizzitola said. “Our time-tested construction practices, purchasing power and the range of options and upgrades offered allow customers to choose the features they value most, enabling HistoryMaker Homes to deliver a high-quality home at an affordable price.”

Artesia Village will contain 82 homes once completed. This marks HistoryMaker’s second Houston-area community where the company serves as both developer and homebuilder.

Families living in Artesia Village will attend Bayshore Elementary School, La Porte Junior High School and La Porte High School, all within approximately five miles of the neighborhood.

The 19-acre Artesia Village complements other HistoryMaker projects in the region. The builder previously developed Lakes at Mason Park in Katy and is actively constructing homes in 10 Houston-area communities, covering a wide geographic range from Conroe to Manvel and from Katy to La Porte. In the Houston area, HistoryMaker’s designs start in the $190,000s.

Founded more than 70 years ago and based in Grapevine, Texas, HistoryMaker Homes is one of the state’s largest builders. The firm constructs more than 1,000 homes annually across 36 Texas communities and is ranked No. 57 on Builder magazine’s list of the nation’s top homebuilders.

Artesia Village’s location near Galveston Bay places it in a market niche where new home construction has been relatively limited in recent years. The community sits close to popular outdoor destinations, which the builder highlights as a strong amenity for prospective buyers.

“We have a value-driven product that is literally minutes from some of the most popular area destinations for outdoor entertainment,” Pizzitola said. “Sylvan Beach, Little Cedar Bayou Park and Bay Forest Golf Club are all minutes away.”

Major regional employers such as DuPont, NASA, Crown Central Petroleum and Boeing are also within an easy commute, adding to the community’s appeal for working families.
