HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – The law firm Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease has leased 22,627 square feet of office space at 2 Houston Center, located at 901 Fannin in downtown Houston.
Vorys, which currently employs 28 people in Houston, will move into 2 Houston Center in June 2019.
Tim Relyea and David Guion of Cushman & Wakefield represented Vorys in the lease negotiations. Brookfield Properties, the building owner, was represented by Doug Little, David Baker, Kelli Gault and Jack Scharnberg of Transwestern, along with Clint Bawcom of Brookfield.
“A decade ago we opened our Houston office. Since that time, we’ve significantly expanded the number of people in our office and the practices that we offer in Houston. We are now more than five times our original size,” said Steve Browning, Vorys’ Houston managing partner.
“We are pleased to welcome Vorys to the Houston Center campus,” said Travis Overall, Executive Vice President and Head of the Texas Region for Brookfield Properties. “Vorys’ decision to relocate to 2 Houston Center, together with recent leases by Direct Energy and Gensler, underscores the market confidence in the capital investments we are making in the Houston Center project.”
In January 2019, Brookfield announced a major redevelopment plan for Houston Center. The project includes a new central plaza and green space along McKinney Street, a monumental stair connecting landscaped terraces, a two-story glass façade, and re-clad skybridges designed to activate street-level restaurants and retail. Construction began in February. Brookfield is also renovating Two and Three Allen Center as part of its broader investment in the campus.
