HOUSTON – The Storyhive video production company is redeveloping a building at 4010 Canal St. in Eastwood, less than two miles east of downtown Houston.
The 15,000-square-foot property, recently acquired by Storyhive, will be open to visitors during the Eastwood Civic Association’s Annual Historic Home Tour on Oct. 19 and 20.
Storyhive is a boutique production company founded by Houston filmmakers Alex Luster, Tom Gandy and Jena Moreno. The team includes more than a dozen producers, videographers, editors and graphic artists who produce videos and animations for energy firms, financial institutions and other businesses across the Houston region.
Renovation work on the building is being handled by Texana Builders in collaboration with Abel Design Group. Once completed, the facility will be one of the largest purpose-built media production studios located inside Houston’s 610 Loop.
The studio will feature a professionally installed lighting grid and dedicated production spaces, including a green room, a conference room, a dedicated editing suite, a kitchen studio and warehouse space. These areas will be available for rent to commercial productions and independent creators. The property also offers a 9,000-square-foot parking lot to accommodate clients and crews, and a large vehicle-access doorway that allows for inclusion of heavy equipment in shoots.
A muralist will paint the building’s exterior during the home tour this weekend, adding a public-facing creative touch to the renovation.
