Traditional Neighborhood Development Launches in Bridgeland

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – A new “traditional neighborhood” inspired by principles popularized by architect Andrés Duany is planned for a portion of Bridgeland in northwest Houston.

Named Parkland Row, the neighborhood will include 288 homesites centered around a park and a lake.

“Parkland Row will introduce a highly desired architectural style and neighborhood layout to Bridgeland,” said Heath Melton, executive vice president of MPC Residential for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “It also advances The Howard Hughes Corp.’s commitment to environmental stewardship through sustainable, forward-thinking design with an emphasis on health and wellness. This project builds on our prior achievements and further integrates the residential experience with the surrounding ecosystem.”

Traditional neighborhood design emphasizes walkability. In these communities, homes are often positioned closer to the street, and neighborhoods are planned to encourage walking between residences, parks and local amenities.

Parkland Row is The Howard Hughes Corp.’s second traditional neighborhood within Parkland Village. It follows Parkland Square, also developed by David Weekley Homes, which received a Gold award at the Texas Excellence in Landscaping Awards and earned a Sustainability Star Designation from the West Houston Association in 2021.

In a company statement, The Howard Hughes Corp. described traditional neighborhood design as integrating residential, commercial and educational elements to create a livable, walkable community with well-connected streets, pathways and public spaces. The design’s walkability between homes, parks and commercial venues is intended to make Parkland Row a cohesive community that emphasizes connectivity.

Located near the intersection of Fry Road and Tuckerton Road, Parkland Row will offer homes ranging from about 1,400 to 3,400 square feet. Architectural styles will include Modern Farmhouse and Modern Prairie.

Brock Eller, division president for David Weekley Homes, said: “Our Modern Farmhouse and Modern Prairie plans, combined with the walkability and amenities of the community, make Parkland Row an excellent, family-friendly destination for homebuyers ready to begin their next chapter.”

In keeping with a cohesive naming concept, all street names in Parkland Row will end with the suffix “ous,” with examples including Adventurous, Joyous, Marvelous and Courteous.

Bridgeland is an 11,500-acre master-planned community in Cypress near the Grand Parkway. It is ranked among the top-selling master-planned communities in Texas and is listed as Number 14 in the nation.
