Tariffs Drive Manufacturer to Expand Operations in Houston

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – World Emblem, a leading manufacturer of emblems and patches, is opening a new factory in Houston as it shifts production in response to recent federal tariffs.

“We are committed to growing our U.S. manufacturing footprint, which will not only reduce tariff costs and improve supply chain efficiency, but also enhance our ability to offer same-day production and delivery to clients,” said Randy Carr, CEO of World Emblem. “As a family-owned business founded and headquartered in Florida with locations across the country, we are proud to bring more jobs back home in support of national reshoring goals while continuing to improve service for our customers.”

The Houston expansion is part of the company’s broader plan to reshore jobs previously performed overseas. The tariff program that prompted the shift was announced by President Donald Trump on April 2.

Fort Lauderdale–based World Emblem told the South Florida Business Journal that rising tariffs had been increasing its import costs by roughly $100,000 per month as it sourced components from China, Cambodia and Vietnam.

In Houston, World Emblem has signed a long-term lease for a new 72,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at 6740 Signat Drive in Houston. The company is relocating its regional operations from a 35,000-square-foot site in northwest Houston on Dorrington Road.

The new, larger Houston factory will initially produce up to 500,000 emblems and patches per week. With this expansion, World Emblem will bring production back from its China vendors to the U.S.

Approximately 140 employees will staff the plant at the outset. The company plans to reshore 50 jobs and add up to 100 additional positions over time as U.S. production grows to meet increasing demand for emblems, patches and promotional products such as custom stickers, labels, pens, pencils and name badges.

“Our new state-of-the-art facility will allow us to expand further and continue hiring more employees from the surrounding area,” Carr added. “We are proud of our dedicated team in Houston and our strong connection to the city, and we look forward to remaining an active part of the community for many years to come.”

World Emblem operates additional U.S. factories in Norcross, Georgia, and Upland, California, with more than 300 employees nationwide.

The company, which describes itself as the world’s largest emblem and patch manufacturer, produces and ships about 250 million products annually for sports headwear, footwear, athletic apparel, uniforms and other garments. Its customers include New Era, Aramark, Cintas and Levi’s.
