Del Webb Starts 600 Home Community

In Grand Prairie, Texas, Del Webb, a division of PulteGroup focused on lifestyle communities for age 55 and up, will soon break ground on a new community that will be its biggest yet in North Texas.

Del Webb Lakesong will span more than 160 acres at Highway 287 and Kimble Road in the Grand Prairie/Midlothian area. Planned for nearly 600 homes, the active adult community will break ground in the first quarter of 2027 within the 2,700-acre Lakesong large-scale planned community. The first 180 homesites are slated to be available for purchase in fall 2027.

“Lakesong gives active adults in southern DFW something they haven’t had close to home: the full Del Webb lifestyle in a setting with real character,” said Scott Bryson, Dallas Division President, PulteGroup. “From the lake-inspired design to an indoor pickleball pavilion, every piece is built around how our homeowners actually want to spend their days.”

The community is set to feature an amenity center with indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center and dedicated movement studio, and multi-purpose rooms for clubs, classes, and events. A full-time Lifestyle Director will lead the community’s social calendar.

The homes are designed for low-maintenance, with front and back lawn service included for residents. Prices have not been set.

Del Webb has been growing its portfolio of communities in Texas. The company recently started work on Del Webb Sonoma Verde in Rockwall, marking the brand’s first community on the east side of the D-FW Metroplex. The company also builds in Legacy Hills in Celina.

In the Houston area, Del Webb recently opened Del Webb Bridgeland, an active adult community planned for 670 homes in Creekland Village. It is the first 55 and up community in the 11,500-acre Bridgeland large-scale planned community. On the southwest side of Houston, Del Webb Sugar Land at Ryehill is planned for about 780 homes.

Now part of PulteGroup, Del Webb was a pioneer in the development of retirement communities with Sun City in Arizona in the 1960s. Sun City Texas opened in Georgetown in the 1990s and is still actively building homes. Last year, the company started its first new development in the Austin market in 30 years at Del Webb Austin at Lost Pines in Bastrop.

PulteGroup is an Atlanta-based homebuilding company with operations in more than 45 markets nationwide. The publicly traded company reported $17.3 billion in total revenues last year.
