In Houston, Hines, the global real estate firm based in Houston, has reported a planned leadership transition.

Jeff Hines, who had been serving as Co-CEO alongside his daughter Laura, will become Chairman. As Chairman, Jeff will step back from day-to-day management and focus primarily on advising the Co-CEOs, Adam and Laura.
“Laura has led Hines as Co-CEO for more than five years. Adam has helped grow important parts of our business across Europe, private wealth and capital formation,” Jeff Hines said. “I’ve watched them shape Hines’ future, and I could not be more confident in their leadership. Watching them lead has been one of the great privileges of my career, and I say that as their father as much as their Chairman.”
Other top executive changes were reported. David Steinbach will become President; and Alfonso Munk will become Global CIO.
Hines, founded in Houston in 1957, has 4,600 employees in 29 countries managing approximately $91 billion of assets on behalf of institutional and private wealth clients.
“We see an extraordinary opportunity for Hines,” said Laura Hines-Pierce and Adam Hines. “The platform is already operating at scale, and the strategy we have been building is working. Capital, infrastructure and human activity are converging in new ways across the built world, expanding the opportunity set beyond traditional definitions of real estate. Our ambition is to apply nearly 70 years of local knowledge, operating experience and investment discipline to that broader opportunity and connect those strengths across one global platform. We will preserve the ownership mindset, relationships and operator’s edge that make Hines distinctive while building on that momentum for the future.”
Hines has developed dozens of high-rise towers in downtown Houston including Pennzoil Place, the TC Energy Center at 700 Louisiana, the 46-story Brava residential tower and the 75-story JP Morgan Chase Tower, which is the tallest building in Houston.
On Westheimer Road, Hines developed The Galleria, which continues to draw international and local shoppers. Across the Houston area, Hines has developed numerous industrial properties, medical and life sciences buildings, as well as residential communities and other projects.
Near the Galleria the firm developed the experiential Gerald D. Hines Waterwall fountain and park, which is enjoyed by tourists and Houston families. Public art and plazas are featured at many Hines developments.
