Law Firm Expands, Leasing Two Downtown Floors in Hines Tower

The 609 Main at Texas building was designed by Pickard Chilton.

HOUSTON – The international law firm White & Case has signed an 11-year lease for 57,315 square feet at 609 Main at Texas, a 48-story office tower totaling 1,073,075 square feet in downtown Houston.

With this new agreement, 609 Main at Texas is now 84 percent leased. The tower, developed by Hines, opened in May 2017.

White & Case will occupy the 29th and 30th floors of the building.

Other prominent tenants at 609 Main include EnVen Energy; Kirkland & Ellis LLP; Orrick; Hogan Lovells; McKinsey & Company; Russell Reynolds Associates; Royal Bank of Canada; Goldman Sachs; and United Airlines. Hines reports that several pending transactions are expected to raise occupancy to approximately 93 percent.

Hines was represented in the lease negotiations by Michael Anderson and Damon Thames of Colvill Office Properties, while White & Case was represented by David Bale of JLL.

Hines Senior Managing Director John Mooz said, “We are very proud that White & Case has chosen to relocate to 609 Main for their new office space, and we look forward to having their world-class team of lawyers at our world-class building.”

Designed by Pickard Chilton, 609 Main at Texas features north and south façades that rise and converge into a striking diagonal crown, creating a distinctive presence on the Houston skyline.

The building’s vertically integrated campus offers a range of amenities, including a hotel-style lobby with a café and multiple networking areas; a 7,000-square-foot fitness center; an 8,000-square-foot conference center; full-height windows; a modern underfloor HVAC system; and private rooftop gardens.

White & Case operates globally, with attorneys working in 44 offices across 30 countries.

“We are looking forward to moving into our new offices at 609 Main, one of the premier buildings in the downtown Houston skyline, early next year,” said Jay Cuclis, office executive partner for White & Case’s Houston office. “It’s a great location for White & Case in the heart of downtown Houston, where we’re committed to grow and thrive.”

609 Main is the most recent downtown office tower completed by Hines, the Houston-based developer founded in 1957. Hines also began construction last year on the 47-story Texas Tower on Block 58, the former Houston Chronicle site bounded by Texas Avenue, Milam, Travis and Prairie; that project is scheduled for completion in 2021.
