NAREE Conference Brings Journalists and Industry Leaders to Miami

MIAMI – (Realty News Report) – The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) will host its 55th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference in Miami from December 7–10.

The conference opens Tuesday morning, December 7, at the Kimpton Epic Hotel and will draw journalists from major newspapers and notable publications across the country. Programming will cover commercial and residential real estate topics, including office buildings, architecture, hotels, mortgage lending, mixed-use development, single-family investing, vacation properties and the fast-growing build-to-rent sector.

Featured speakers include Gilda Perez-Alvarado, Global CEO of JLL Hotels & Hospitality; Sean Black, CEO of Knock; Jorge Perez and Jon Paul Perez of Related Group; Todd Wood, CEO of Christopher Todd Communities; Lenny Beaudoin, CBRE Global Lead of Workplace, Design and Occupancy; Adam Ducker, CEO of RCLCO; Richard Ross, CEO of Quinn Residences; and Marilee Utter, chair of the Counselors of Real Estate.

Conference programming will also include several prominent chief economists: Lawrence Yun of the National Association of Realtors, Frank Nothaft of CoreLogic and Michael Fratantoni of the Mortgage Bankers Association.

Coverage of the event typically generates extensive reporting, blog posts and social media attention from many of the nation’s leading media outlets.

Mid-career training is provided through NAREE University, offered twice daily. This peer-to-peer professional development series equips journalists to navigate changing newsroom practices and to pursue real estate investigative reporting. Workshops will feature journalists from The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, The Miami Herald, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, the Orange County Register and The Real Deal.

On-site events include the “Intersection of Art and Real Estate Tour,” a walk through the vibrant Wynwood district that highlights public art and development trends, and the popular Meet the Press speed-networking sessions, which pair journalists and industry representatives for one-on-one, three-minute conversations.

The Miami agenda also features NAREE’s awards presentations: the 71st Annual Journalism Competition and the 14th Annual Bruss Real Estate Book Awards luncheon.

Journalists and industry communicators can register for the conference online at NAREE.org.

Founded in 1929, NAREE is a nonprofit professional association of journalists, writers, columnists, editors and authors who cover residential and commercial real estate, urban planning and home design.
