HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Rumi’s Kitchen, a celebrated dining destination with acclaimed locations in Atlanta and Washington, D.C., is opening a new restaurant on Post Oak Boulevard, just north of the Galleria.
The 5,200-square-foot Middle Eastern concept will be part of Post Oak Place, the newly completed mixed-use development anchored by Zadok Jewelers.
Former Gerald D. Hines Site
Post Oak Place at 1801 Post Oak Boulevard sits on land that was once occupied by a retail strip center developed decades ago by the late Gerald D. Hines. That one-story Post Oak Row retail strip was demolished to make way for the five-story development.

The 112,000-square-foot Post Oak Place combines upscale retail, office, and restaurant space across five stories. The development opened in March 2021 with the debut of Zadok Jewelers and now includes tenants such as Northern Trust and major culinary names, including the modern Japanese concept Uchiko and the innovative Persian restaurant Rumi’s Kitchen.
Founded by Chef/Owner Ali Mesghali and co-owner Stephen Kaplan, Rumi’s Kitchen is known for contemporary interpretations of Persian cuisine. The menu emphasizes small, shareable plates and family-style entrees, featuring kebabs, freshly made flatbreads, rich stews, and signature rice dishes. The Post Oak Place location will be Rumi’s Kitchen’s first restaurant in Texas and its fifth U.S. location overall.
“As one of the first upscale Persian restaurants to join Houston’s culinary scene, Rumi’s Kitchen represents an exciting addition to our robust and dynamic roster of tenants at Post Oak Place,” said Jonathan Zadok, principal of Zadok Jewelers. He noted that the growing mix of international restaurants is helping to redefine the Uptown District and that Post Oak Boulevard is evolving into a vibrant destination for residents and visitors to dine, shop, and explore.
Post Oak Place was designed by the Michael Hsu Office of Architecture, an Austin-based firm known for its contemporary and context-driven projects.
