Stream Realty Chosen to Lease Historic Building for Novel Coworking

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Stream Realty Partners announced that its Houston office has been selected to manage leasing for the historic office building at 405 Main St., commonly known as the Scanlan Building, on behalf of Novel Coworking.

Completed in 1909, the 11-story Scanlan Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The property sits on the site of the first capitol of the Republic of Texas and occupies the prominent corner of Main and Preston streets. Named for former Houston mayor Thomas Howe Scanlan, the building blends historic character with modern upgrades.

The Scanlan Building has been sensitively restored and modernized while preserving its historic fabric. The property currently offers move-in-ready suites ranging from approximately 250 to 3,000 square feet, suitable for small offices, creative firms, and coworking suites. In addition to traditional office spaces, the building features a notable ground-level corner restaurant and entertainment space of about 4,000 square feet. That space includes high ceilings, a fully equipped kitchen, flexible indoor/outdoor serving areas and a second-floor outdoor bar area—an attractive amenity for tenants and visitors alike.

Matthew Asvestas, Senior Associate with Stream’s Houston office, said, “We are extremely pleased to continue our successful relationship with Novel Coworking as their leasing partner for 405 Main St. We have accomplished much together at 3120 Southwest Freeway and expect to bring the same level of consistent, exceptional service to 405 Main.”

Located adjacent to the Harris County Courthouse, 405 Main is expected to be especially appealing to law firms, legal professionals and related services seeking a centrally located downtown address with a mix of historic charm and contemporary amenities.

Stream Realty selected Asvestas and Senior Associate Adam Ross to lead leasing efforts for the property. Their local market knowledge and prior work with Novel Coworking position them to match prospective tenants with well-suited suites and to support the building’s activation at street level.

Stream Realty Partners has grown substantially since its founding, now employing more than 920 real estate professionals across multiple regional offices. The firm’s network includes markets across the United States, with regional presence in Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Fort Worth, Greater Los Angeles, Houston, San Antonio, San Diego and Washington, D.C.
