Upscale Denver Steakhouse Signs 13,000-SF Lease at One Allen Center
Guard and Grace restaurant in Denver.
HOUSTON – Guard and Grace, a contemporary steakhouse originating in Denver, will open a 13,000-square-foot restaurant in One Allen Center in downtown Houston.
Planned to debut in summer 2019, the Houston location extends the ongoing partnership between TAG Restaurant Group and Brookfield Properties, the owner of both the Allen Center office complex and the Denver building that houses the original Guard and Grace.
Brookfield Properties and Troy Guard, chef and owner of TAG Restaurant Group, announced the lease agreement on Tuesday.
“We chose to bring Guard and Grace to Houston because, much like Denver when we opened our first location, the city has a contagious passion and energy — we’re thrilled to become part of that,” Guard said. “Our relationship with Brookfield has been successful and collaborative, so expanding outside Denver felt like a natural next step.”
The Denver Guard and Grace opened in 2014 at street level of Brookfield’s 1801 California building in downtown Denver’s business district. TAG Restaurant Group operates a diverse portfolio of concepts, spanning Mexican cuisine, breakfast spots and burger bars.
Nick Hernandez, Crystal Allen and Chace Henke of Transwestern’s Houston Retail Services Group represented Brookfield Properties in the deal.
“Bringing Guard and Grace to Allen Center reflects the remarkable growth and transformation underway on this side of downtown and at Allen Center specifically, and it aligns perfectly with Brookfield’s placemaking strategy,” said Travis Overall, Executive Vice President and Head of the Texas Region for Brookfield Properties.
Brookfield recently finished the first phase of the multi-million-dollar Reimagining of Allen Center. Improvements included converting One Allen Center’s lobby into a mixed-use, two-story glass façade; re-cladding the skybridge; and creating the project’s centerpiece: a redesigned exterior landscape transformed into a lively one-acre greenspace called “The Acre.”
Guard and Grace will occupy One Allen Center’s new “glass box,” offering unobstructed views over The Acre’s central lawn. The bi-level venue will feature a full bar, several private dining rooms and two outdoor patios where guests can dine while overlooking the greenspace.
