Ralph Bivins at Greenway Plaza Tuesday Morning: Houston’s Future Insights

8:00 AM Tuesday Sept. 17 at the Hub in 3 Greenway Plaza. Let’s talk about Houston.

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Ralph Bivins, author of Houston 2020: America’s Boom Town – An Extreme Close Up, will present on the future of Houston Tuesday morning at Greenway Plaza.

“Houston is at a crossroads, facing tremendous challenges as it grows toward becoming the nation’s third-largest city,” Bivins said. “Will city leaders find the right solutions to shape a world-class metropolis, or will growth be mishandled and leave Houston struggling under its own weight?”

The talk begins at 8:00 a.m. Sept. 17 at The Hub food hall in the 3 Greenway Plaza building.

In his newly released book, Houston 2020, veteran real estate journalist Ralph Bivins outlines the projects, partnerships and personalities likely to shape Houston over the next decade.

Drawing on Houston’s diverse population and economy, Bivins examines how the region must confront mounting economic pressures, transportation challenges and recurring flood risk. The 186-page book reviews initiatives such as the Astrodome renovation, Pennzoil Place, Discovery Green, downtown historic preservation efforts, the demolition of the Pierce Elevated freeway, and future prospects for The Energy Corridor.

With years of experience covering real estate, Bivins gathers perspectives from numerous industry leaders to provide a well-rounded view of the booming Bayou City. Houston 2020 includes insights from business figures such as developer Gerald D. Hines, homebuilder David Weekley and civic leader Ric Campo, CEO of Camden Property Trust.

Dr. James P. Gaines, chief economist at the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M, praised the book for its detailed coverage of the sprawling 10,000-square-mile Greater Houston area. In the introduction, Gaines wrote, “Houston is, indeed, like no other city in the country and maybe the world. The fast-paced changes taking place have been witnessed and chronicled by Ralph Bivins over the years and presented in a remarkable work.”

Ralph Bivins is editor of Realty News Report, an award-winning publication covering Houston and national real estate news.

Bivins previously covered real estate for the Houston Chronicle and has served as president of the National Association of Real Estate Editors. He recently received that organization’s Best Column award.
