Houston Adds 72,600 Jobs in Past Year: Latest Jobs Report

HOUSTON — According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the Houston metropolitan area added approximately 72,600 jobs over the 12 months ending in February 2019.

The region’s unemployment rate improved to 4.2 percent in February 2019, down from 4.7 percent a year earlier in February 2018.

Within the energy sector, oilfield services added about 3,600 jobs in February, while exploration and production saw a decline of roughly 300 jobs, according to Patrick Jankowski of the Greater Houston Partnership.
