Hines Launches New Coworking Network for Flexible Office Space
Hines will create a coworking facility in the 717 Avenue building in downtown Houston
HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Hines is launching a new coworking initiative, Hines² (Hines Squared), to address rising demand for flexible office solutions.
The service will debut at two properties: the 33-story 717 Texas Avenue building in downtown Houston and the 167,000-square-foot Kearns Building in Salt Lake City.
Hines plans to expand the program to additional U.S. markets, including Atlanta, Boston, Denver, New York and Washington, DC, with potential future growth into select European and South American markets.
“Hines is a premium service provider with a deep focus on delivering exceptional customer service and genuine care for our tenants,” said Hines President and CEO Jeff Hines. “Given the breadth and quality of our global portfolio and operating platform, Hines has the potential to be a leading provider in this space.”
Following an extensive evaluation of the coworking sector, Hines selected Industrious—the largest premium flexible workspace provider in the U.S.—as an operating partner. Industrious will manage both initial Hines² locations, with additional projects already planned across the Hines portfolio. Hines is also exploring further opportunities with Convene, another preferred partner that specializes in full-service meeting and event management.
“Hines² is a direct response to the changing needs of our current and future tenants—our core customers,” said Charlie Kuntz, Hines Innovation Officer. “Hines has a 60+ year track record of delivering superior space and service. Flexible workspace and office hospitality are a natural evolution for us. Partnering with Industrious accelerates that evolution while preserving our high standard of service.”
Industrious operates more than 80 locations across more than 40 U.S. cities and is widely recognized as a leading provider of premium flexible workspace.
“Over the past six years, we’ve focused on understanding the evolving needs of the modern occupier and designing workspaces that meet those needs,” said Jamie Hodari, CEO and co-founder of Industrious.
The 717 Texas Avenue building, where Hines² will be launched, is a 697,195-square-foot office tower adjacent to the Lancaster Hotel, a boutique hospitality property. Designed by HOK and completed in 2003, the tower is located on a block bounded by Texas Avenue, Milam, Prairie and Louisiana streets.
Previously known as Calpine Center, the 717 Texas building sits across from the planned Texas Tower, a roughly 1 million-square-foot development by Hines on the 800 block of Texas Avenue.
Once the Texas Tower is completed in the next couple of years, Hines intends to relocate its corporate headquarters to the new building.
