Bridgeland Multifamily Groundbreaking Ceremony

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) The Howard Hughes Corporation has broken ground on Starling at Bridgeland, a 358-unit for-lease multifamily community located in Bridgeland, a master-planned area in northwest Houston.

Bridgeland is an 11,400-acre master-planned community in Cypress near the Grand Parkway and is ranked No. 9 in the nation for new home sales.

The apartment community will be built in Bridgeland Central, the planned 900-acre urban core of the neighborhood. Starling at Bridgeland is the second multifamily rental project by The Howard Hughes Corporation in Bridgeland, following the Lakeside Row residences.

During the pandemic, the overall Houston multifamily market experienced a downturn. Mid- and lower-tier properties (Class B and C) held up better than newer Class A buildings. The Inner Loop Class A market saw the greatest softness with declining rents, while many suburban submarkets outperformed downtown multifamily properties.

VCC is serving as construction manager for Starling at Bridgeland. The 350,000-square-foot development will occupy a 15.2-acre site and is expected to be complete by summer 2022.

“This project reflects our commitment to offering a quality lifestyle with access to open green space as well as urban amenities like neighborhood retail and restaurants,” said Heath Melton, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities, Residential for The Howard Hughes Corporation.

Short-term leases will be offered to accommodate buyers who are waiting for their new homes to be finished in Bridgeland.
