Oil & Gas Supplier Builds New Regional Headquarters

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – JDR Cable Systems has begun construction on its new U.S. headquarters, where the company will design and manufacture products for the oil and gas industry.

The new 65,000-square-foot facility in the Houston suburb of Tomball will feature 45,000 square feet dedicated to assembly and testing, including a 60-ton overhead crane, and 20,000 square feet of two-story office space.

Owned by Poland’s TFKable Group, JDR Cable Systems serves many of the world’s energy companies and subsea service providers across oil and gas and renewable energy markets. The company produces high-performance subsea production umbilicals, intervention and workover control systems, subsea power cables and related accessories for offshore applications.

JDR Cable currently operates from facilities in northwest Houston near Highway 290 and Beltway 8.

The new headquarters, located at 2012 South Persimmon east of Highway 249, is a design-build project led by Houston-based KDW Construction. Construction is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2021.

“Our Houston-based business has grown strongly over the last decade, following increased demand from our customers for our intervention, workover and control systems (IWOC) rental service,” said Brian Davis, general manager for JDR Cable. “We have also expanded our manufacturing and service support for oil and gas customers in the Gulf of Mexico and abroad.”

Lower oil prices have weighed on the Houston economy, long known as the Energy Capital of the World. Reduced demand during the coronavirus pandemic contributed to downward pressure on prices.

On April 20, West Texas Intermediate crude briefly fell below $1 per barrel, reaching an unprecedented negative low of negative $37 per barrel—a one-day swing unlike any seen before. In recent weeks, WTI prices have been hovering around $40 per barrel.
