HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Owners of the 34-story Phoenix Tower at Greenway Plaza have completed a renovation of the Sky Terrace on the building’s ninth floor.
The project replaced the existing St. Augustine grass with durable artificial turf, refreshed the terrace’s reflective pool, added new seating areas and lawn games, and introduced Adirondack chairs to enhance lounging options.
Located at the northwest corner of Buffalo Speedway and the Southwest Freeway, Phoenix Tower contains more than 600,000 square feet of office space.
“The Phoenix Tower Sky Terrace is one of several signature outdoor gathering spaces that define the Greenway Plaza campus,” said Eric Siegrist, director of leasing for Parkway Property Investments. “These thoughtfully planned improvements make the Sky Terrace an even more appealing place for tenant gatherings, special events, dining, or simply relaxing and recharging.”
The terrace upgrades complement a new parking annex scheduled for completion in late 2019. The approximately 247,000-square-foot garage annex will rise eight floors and provide around 600 parking spaces. It will connect to Phoenix Tower’s existing eight-story garage and offer direct, covered access to The Hub, the restaurant and amenity center for the Greenway Plaza complex.
When Phoenix Tower opened in 1984, Houston’s office market was struggling amid a downturn in the energy sector. For years the building was among the city’s more visible vacant properties. Today it is part of Greenway Plaza, a roughly 4 million-square-foot office and mixed-use development by Century Development. The site was assembled over time by Kenneth Schnitzer through the acquisition of many single-family parcels.
