Three New Apartment Towers Planned for Houston’s Energy Corridor

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – AHS Residential has acquired the final parcel in Wolff Companies’ Ten Oaks, an 83-acre master-planned development located on the western edge of The Energy Corridor.

AHS plans to build three 12-story apartment towers totaling 576 units on the 6.6-acre site near the Katy Freeway and Barker Cypress Road.

Ten Oaks sits close to the corporate or divisional headquarters of major employers including Wood, BP, ConocoPhillips and Shell Oil, among others.

“This will be AHS Residential’s first high-rise apartment complex in The Energy Corridor and will complement the retail and healthcare amenities already established at Ten Oaks,” said Carolyn Wolff Dorros, Executive Vice President of Wolff Companies. “The community will appeal to residents who prefer to live near their workplaces and will broaden the range of housing options in West Houston.”

The Ten Oaks development will mark AHS Residential’s first project in Houston and its second in Texas. As the company expands beyond Florida, it has recently started construction on its first multifamily project in Atlanta, Georgia. AHS Ten Oaks aims to offer modern, affordable apartments to a growing local market. AHS Residential employs prefabricated modular construction and advanced concrete forming methods to reduce costs, savings that are passed along to residents.

“America is facing a severe housing shortage, and we can deliver housing at a speed and price point unmatched by most multifamily builders,” said Ernesto Lopes, CEO of AHS Residential, a division of MRV&Co, one of the largest homebuilders worldwide. “We are bringing our product to markets with the greatest need, and Wolff Companies’ Ten Oaks development provides an ideal location to realize that vision.”

“AHS Residential acquired a highly desirable parcel to bring their plan to life,” said David S. Wolff, Chairman and President of Wolff Companies. “West Houston continues to draw new residents because of its employment opportunities, strong school districts, and the variety of amenities nearby—entertainment, dining and retail at CityCentre and Town & Country, and world-class healthcare at the Texas Medical Center West Campus. Ten Oaks is an excellent location for a residential project of this quality, thanks to our rigorous development standards, convenient access and central position in The Energy Corridor—the ‘downtown’ of West Houston.”

David Wolff, often credited with popularizing the name of the Energy Corridor, is recognized for helping shape the district’s identity.

Wolff Companies has invested in The Energy Corridor for nearly 50 years and has developed more than 1,000 acres in the region, including Park 10 and Westlake Center. The company’s current focus is the 78-acre Central Park development along I-10 between Highway 6 and North Eldridge Parkway. Central Park already hosts MD Anderson Cancer Center’s West Houston campus and a 342-unit multifamily community, the Vista at Park Row.
