Houston: Tri Pointe Starts Two Communities

In Houston, Tri Pointe Homes will build hundreds of homes across two new communities in the Cypress and Tomball areas northwest of Houston.
The national home builder will build 362 homes in Azalea Trails, a new community off Cypress Rose Hill Road just south of the Grand Parkway in Cypress. A few miles north, Tri Pointe has opened Oakhill Reserve, a 100-acre community just north of FM 2920 off Decker Prairie Rosehill Road in Tomball.
“We’re expanding in locations where buyers are actively seeking strong connectivity, and Northwest Houston continues to stand out because it provides room to grow without losing access to the places and conveniences that shape daily life,” said Division President of Tri Pointe Homes, Houston, Joe Mandola. “Azalea Trails gives us the opportunity to meet that demand with homes that feel approachable, connected, and carefully considered. We aren’t just designing for move-in day, but for the many routines and milestones that follow.”
Azalea Trails will have two communities. Tri Pointe will offer homes ranging from 2,280 to 2,972 SF on 50-foot wide lots priced from the mid $400,000s in Cascade at Azalea Trails. Homes on 60-foot wide lots ranging from 3,039 to 3,796 SF will start in the mid $500,000s at Amethyst at Azalea Trails.
Planned amenities including a recreation center, fitness center, swimming pool, playground, putting green, and walking trails are designed to foster community connection and active living, as stated by Tri Pointe. Azalea Trails is north of Highway 290, about 31 miles northwest of downtown Houston.

Set among mature oak trees, Oakhill Reserve will offer homes in a mix of architectural styles on 45- and 50-foot wide lots. Plans will range from 2,128 to 2,688 SF. Homes start in the high $300,000 and top out at more than $600,000.
The community is set to feature an open-air recreation center, outdoor fireplace, resort-style pool, pickleball courts, playground, and walking trails that wind around community lakes.
“Residents benefit from convenient access throughout the region, a setting that still feels connected to nature, and the confidence that comes from living in a growing market,” Mandola said. “With Houston as the second-fastest growing major economy in the nation, Oakhill Reserve gives us the opportunity to thoughtfully build within a region that already has so much going for it.”
Both communities Azalea Trails and Oakhill Reserve are zoned to Tomball ISD.
Tri Pointe Homes has another major project in the works in Tomball. The company, along with Toll Brothers, purchased an assemblage of eight tracts of rural land along Telge Road, just north of the Grand Parkway, for the development of a 919-home community. The home builders are developing Evergrove, a 911-acre community is planned for 1,655 homes near FM 723 and Old Pecan Road in the Richmond area.
Headquartered in Incline Village, Nev., Tri Pointe became one of the nation’s largest builders in 2013 with the purchase of a collection of builders from Weyerhaueser Co. including Houston-based Trendmaker Homes. Earlier this year, Tri Pointe was purchased by Sumitomo Forestry Co. The company has a presence in 13 states and the District of Columbia.
