Trendmaker Homes Launches New Johnson Development Neighborhood in Fastest-Growing US City

LEANDER, Texas – (Realty News Report) – In one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities, Trendmaker Homes has launched a new neighborhood within the Bryson master-planned community, owned and developed by Houston-based Johnson Development.

“Austin is projected to become the 10th most populous city in the United States next year, and its northern suburbs are experiencing even greater rates of growth,” said Bryan Havel, president of Trendmaker Homes Austin. “Bryson sits strategically along that expansion corridor and stands apart with high-quality amenities and a distinctive mix of community connectivity and relaxed Hill Country character. We’re excited to bring new homes to a top-six homebuilding market.”

The Fastest Growing City in America – Leander

The 530-acre Bryson community is situated just off Highway 183-A near Austin, in Leander.

Leander, approximately 30 miles northwest of Austin, has a population of about 62,600, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. A report covering the 12-month period ending July 1, 2019, recorded a 12 percent annual population increase for Leander—the highest percentage gain of any city in the nation.

Within Bryson, Trendmaker will build 60 single-family homes on 60’ x 90’ lots in a new neighborhood called Sweetwood. Trendmaker Homes Austin operates as part of TRI Pointe Group, a publicly traded homebuilding company.

Johnson Development acquired Bryson last year from Crescent Communities. Johnson currently manages 13 master-planned communities in the Houston area, two in the Dallas region, one in Atlanta and this one in Austin. Bryson represents Johnson’s first major project in Central Texas, and recent sales have been strong.

Across the country, new home sales have remained robust during the pandemic, supported in part by historically low mortgage interest rates near 3 percent.

“Overall, our sales have been solid this year, despite an unusual market,” said Larry Johnson, chairman and chief executive officer of Johnson Development. “We’ve seen an increased demand for communities close to nature and for new homes that better fit family needs. Favorable interest rates continue to drive new-home purchases.”

According to a midyear report by RCLCO, six Johnson Development communities ranked among the top 50 best-selling new home communities nationally: Sienna, Cross Creek Ranch, Harmony and Harvest Green in the Houston area, and Viridian and Trinity Falls in the Dallas area.
