Uber to Hire 3,000 for New Regional Office Opening in Dallas

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi

DALLAS – (Realty News Report) – Uber Technologies, Inc., the ride‑hailing company, has announced plans to open a major administrative hub in Dallas that will employ 3,000 people.

The new Uber offices will be part of the Epic mixed‑use development on Elm Street in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of downtown Dallas. The 8‑acre Epic project is a collaboration among developers Westdale Real Estate, KDC, Street Lights Residential and Vine Street Ventures.

San Francisco‑based Uber said several hundred employees are expected to be working in Dallas by the end of the year as the build‑out begins.

The project is expected to create 3,000 new jobs and represent more than $75 million in capital investment. As part of the incentive package, the Texas Enterprise Fund has approved a $24,000,000 grant to Uber Technologies, Inc.

“I am proud to welcome Uber’s investment in the great state of Texas, along with the 3,000 jobs the company will bring to its new Dallas office,” said Governor Greg Abbott. “This investment will bolster Texas’ continued economic success and reputation as the best state for business. Our unrivaled workforce and business‑friendly environment make Texas the perfect home for innovative companies like Uber.”

“Dallas was the first city in Texas where the Uber app launched in 2012, and since then Texas has been a hub of innovation for our platform,” said Dara Khosrowshahi, CEO of Uber. “Uber is excited to bring this major investment to Texas and to deepen our commitment to the City of Dallas.”

Uber will lease approximately 450,000 square feet of office space in Deep Ellum to accommodate the new hub and its staff.

Separately, Houston‑based developer Hines is moving forward with a 12‑story mixed‑use development also planned for Deep Ellum, adding to the neighborhood’s ongoing growth.
