Houston Breaks Ground on 30-Story Horizon Tower, Construction Starts 2020

HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Medistar Corp. will break ground this year on Horizon Tower, a 30-story, 485,000-square-foot life sciences building in the Texas Medical Center, JLL announced.

Located at 6929 Main Street, Horizon Tower will be part of the $550 million Texas A&M Innovation Plaza, situated within Houston’s Texas Medical Center, a global center for medical education, research and clinical care.

Scheduled for completion in January 2024, Horizon Tower will include 17 floors dedicated to life sciences space designed for biomedical research, technology development, clinical operations, medical services and office use. These levels will sit atop a 13-story structured parking garage.

JLL, led by leasing executives Tim Gregory and Angela Barber, has been named the exclusive leasing agent for Horizon Tower by Medistar Corp. and Texas A&M University.

“Horizon Tower is well-positioned to become one of the state’s premier life sciences facilities, located within Texas A&M’s Innovation Plaza on the grounds of the largest medical center in the world,” said Tim Gregory, JLL Senior Vice President.

Houston-based Medistar Corp., led by Monzer Hourani, is the building developer. The financing team includes American Triple I Partners, an organization founded by Texas A&M alumnus Henry Cisneros, who previously served as mayor of San Antonio and as U.S. Housing and Urban Development secretary under President Clinton.

The Texas A&M logo was recently installed atop the university’s newly redeveloped 18-story building at the corner of Main Street and Holcombe Boulevard. Texas A&M acquired the 5.5-acre property in 2017 and the redevelopment included a new reflective glass facade.
