HOUSTON — Benjamin Berg and Chef Robert Del Grande Reimagine Cafe Annie
HOUSTON — Benjamin Berg of Berg Hospitality Group is leading a major renovation of the famed Uptown restaurant Cafe Annie, partnering with acclaimed Chef Robert Del Grande to relaunch the venue under a refreshed concept and name.
Located along Post Oak Boulevard in the heart of the Galleria area, Cafe Annie has temporarily closed for redevelopment and is scheduled to reopen this fall as The Annie Café & Bar. The project is part of a broader revitalization at 6 BLVD Place, developed by Ed Wulfe.
“We are delighted to welcome this team to 6 BLVD Place along the updated and prestigious Post Oak Boulevard in the heart of the Galleria area,” said Ed Wulfe, Managing Partner of 6 BLVD Place, 1800 Post Oak Blvd., a short distance north of the Galleria.
Berg Hospitality Group plans an extensive renovation of the restaurant’s 11,000-square-foot space. Updates will include new interiors, upgraded lighting and contemporary furnishings, with an expanded bar area designed to enhance the inviting atmosphere of the second-floor patio. The culinary program and presentation will draw on Chef Del Grande’s national reputation and Berg’s creative hospitality experience to create a fresh yet familiar dining experience.
“Cafe Annie is a Houston institution located in a prime Uptown location, and I am extremely happy to have an outpost in this thriving part of Houston,” said Benjamin Berg, owner of Berg Hospitality Group. Berg’s portfolio includes B&B Butchers & Restaurant in Houston and Fort Worth, B.B. Italia, B.B. Pizza and B.B. Lemon. “Chef Del Grande and I will combine our talents to create a lively dining and social scene.”
The renovated Annie Café & Bar will aim to honor the restaurant’s legacy while updating its atmosphere and menu to meet contemporary dining expectations. With a focus on hospitality, refined yet approachable cuisine, and comfortable indoor-outdoor spaces, the team intends to make the relaunched venue a destination for both longtime patrons and new customers in the Uptown district.
Construction and design will prioritize a cohesive guest experience—balancing the restaurant’s storied history with modern finishes and thoughtful layout changes that improve flow, service efficiency and social gathering areas. The expanded bar and patio integration are expected to support a dynamic environment for cocktails, small plates and evening dining.
As the project progresses, Berg Hospitality Group and Chef Del Grande will refine menu offerings that reflect seasonal ingredients, elevated classics and creative new dishes suited to the refined yet relaxed setting. The reopening later this year will mark a new chapter for the site and contribute to the ongoing revitalization of Post Oak Boulevard.
