HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – The development team led by former Conoco, ConocoPhillips and Chesapeake Energy chairman Archie Dunham has broken ground on Dunham Pointe, a 1,327-acre master-planned community just off Highway 290 in northwest Houston.
Homebuilders Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, Tri Pointe Homes and Toll Brothers will offer new single-family homes on 50-, 60- and 70-foot lots, with starting prices in the $300,000s.
When complete, Dunham Pointe’s first two phases are expected to include roughly 1,000 single-family residences.
Pre-sales for the community’s initial phase are scheduled to begin in August, with six model homes opening in the fall. Move-in ready homes are planned to be available later in the year.
The overall site includes more than 300 acres set aside for restaurants, retail, office, medical uses and multi-family housing oriented toward Highway 290. Residents will also be minutes from several churches and from shopping and dining at Fairfield Town Center.
Dunham Pointe is located east of the Grand Parkway on the south side of Highway 290 near Mason Road.
The Highway 290 corridor has been gaining momentum. Land developer David Wolff, known for his role in developing Houston’s Energy Corridor, recently described the area as an emerging and desirable district.
“With Dunham Pointe, we’ve created a quality community that checks all the boxes – a location near employment centers, easy access to major thoroughfares, onsite schools covering all three levels of education, first-class amenities and well-appointed new homes from some of Houston’s finest builders,” said Cary Dunham, executive vice president of Dunham Pointe Development.
The community’s Amenity Center will feature a family pool with cabanas, an adult lap pool, a splash pad, a fitness center and a children’s playground. Residents will also have access to a Great Room with both open-air and enclosed spaces for fitness classes and community events. Construction on the Amenity Center is slated to begin in August with a target completion in summer 2022.
Dunham Pointe’s Education Village will include new Cy‑Fair ISD elementary, middle and high schools, along with several sports facilities. The 146-acre education setting will also host a fire station operated by Harris County Emergency Services District No. 9.
In addition to homes and schools, the development reserves more than 300 acres for commercial and multifamily uses facing Highway 290, providing convenient daily needs and services. The community’s location places residents minutes from local houses of worship and the shopping and dining options at Fairfield Town Center.
Dunham Pointe represents the development team’s second and largest master-planned community to date. Their first project, Stone Creek in Hockley, opened in 2016 and features 1,225 single-family homes along with a clubhouse, pool and lakes.
