MIAMI – Jack Flemming, a reporter who covers luxury homes and broader real estate topics for the Los Angeles Times and an active volunteer and board member with the National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE), has been elected and installed as NAREE’s president for 2026.

An experienced panel moderator, Flemming will lead onstage programming at NAREE’s 60th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference in Miami, June 1–4, 2026.
Flemming studied journalism at the University of Missouri. His work has been recognized by NAREE: he won the Best Young Journalist award in the association’s 2025 journalism competition and earned a NAREE Gold Award in 2024 for Best Residential Real Estate Story.
NAREE recently issued a Call for Entries for its 76th Annual Real Estate Journalism Competition; the deadline to enter is March 1. Journalists may submit their best work at contest.naree.org.
The 2026 NAREE leadership team also includes:
- Suzann Silverman, editorial director of Commercial Property Executive and Multi-Housing News, serving as vice president;
- Cati O’Keefe, editorial director of Green Builder Media, serving as treasurer;
- Candace Taylor, bureau chief of Mansion at The Wall Street Journal, serving as board secretary.
Newly elected active board members include Laura Kinsler of Growth Spotter at the Orlando Sentinel and Patrick Blennerhassett of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Serving now as chairman of the board is NAREE 2025 president Tony Wilbert of CoStar News. Former 2024 board chair Aldo Svaldi of The Denver Post continues as an active board member.
Other 2026 officers and board additions: Jim Lapides of the National Multifamily Housing Council was elected second vice president, and Tierre Banks of Veterans United Home Loans was elected associate director.
NAREE also thanks several members who are rotating off the board after long terms of volunteer service: Steve Brown (formerly of The Dallas Morning News); Katherine Feser (formerly of the Houston Chronicle); Ronda Kaysen (The New York Times); Shonda Novak (Austin American-Statesman); Jeff Ostrowski (Bankrate); and Eileen McElieney Woods (Homes.com). The organization acknowledges and appreciates their dedication and contributions.
Board members continuing in active roles for 2026 include Jon Banister (Bisnow) and Rebecca San Juan (Homes.com). Kris Hudson of CBRE remains on the board as an associate board member.
Founded in 1929, the National Association of Real Estate Editors is approaching its 100th anniversary. NAREE’s 60th Annual Conference opens June 1, 2026, in Miami, and the association’s Journalism Awards will be presented on June 3 at the Kimpton Epic Hotel.
