HOUSTON (Realty News Report) – MLB Capital Partners has announced the opening of Junior’s Produce at the Houston Farmers Market on Airline Drive near The Heights.

MLB Capital Partners, a Houston-based firm led by Todd Mason, Jeff Lindenberger and Fred Baca, is overseeing a redevelopment of the historic Farmers Market, which first opened in 1942.

Junior’s Produce is a locally owned and operated retailer that will focus on Texas-grown produce alongside fresh farm goods sourced from across the United States. In addition to a variety of fruits and vegetables, the market will offer dried beans, preserves, fresh herbs, nuts and pecans, fresh-squeezed juices, and a selection of organic produce.

“This is a lifelong dream come true,” said Junior Saldaña, owner of Junior’s Produce. “I’ve worked across many parts of the industry, from large-format grocery stores to specialty health food outlets, and this is the ideal moment to launch my own business. I want to provide customers with a distinctive shopping experience that combines the efficiency and value of major grocers with the personalized service and attention to detail of a specialty retailer.”

“Junior is a Houston native with more than 30 years of experience in the industry,” said Todd Mason, Principal at MLB Capital Partners. “He brings exceptional skill and enthusiasm to the Farmers Market, and we’re excited to welcome him to the property.”

Junior’s Produce has taken over the space formerly occupied by Canino’s Produce at the Houston Farmers Market. The shop is located at 2520 Airline Drive and will be open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

MLB Capital Partners is planning to redevelop the Houston Farmers Market into a destination retail hub featuring a wider range of products, updated facilities and expanded community programming. In May 2017, MLB Capital Partners purchased the 17.67-acre site on the east side of The Heights from The Farmers’ Marketing Association of Houston Inc.
