GALVESTON – (Realty News Report) – Wan Bridge, a Texas-based developer specializing in build-to-rent single-family communities, is moving forward with Palm Bay Galveston.
Palm Bay Galveston will include 94 detached single-family homes in the neighborhood’s primary section. The residences will reflect a signature island aesthetic created by Wan Bridge’s in-house design team, drawing inspiration from Gulf Coast resort communities such as Seaside and WaterColor in Florida. The design intent is to evoke the relaxed, coastal architectural character common to seaside towns along the Gulf.
Construction of single-family rental homes has accelerated nationwide during the pandemic, shifting some industry focus away from traditional multifamily projects toward suburban and low-density rental options.
Wan Bridge plans to begin construction in December on the Palm Bay project after acquiring bay-accessible land within the existing Bayside at Waterman’s community in Galveston.
Located roughly 50 miles southeast of Houston, Galveston has experienced a surge in residential sales as many buyers seek a combination of commute-friendly and vacation-style living amid the coronavirus pandemic. This trend has positioned Galveston as an attractive option for those prioritizing proximity to outdoor amenities and second-home convenience.
“As the build-to-rent model of single-family homes continues to gain popularity, it is changing how we view possibilities in residential real estate,” said Kevin Stuckey, Senior Vice President of Development for Wan Bridge. “In this case, beachfront and bayside communities can embrace that evolution. Whether newcomers or longtime residents, we look forward to offering long-term rental homes and condominiums that meet steady demand on Galveston Island.”
Palm Bay will offer three- and four-bedroom layouts with 2.5 bathrooms and living areas ranging from approximately 1,600 to 1,800 square feet. In addition to traditional single-family homes, Wan Bridge will develop more than 20 condominiums within the neighborhood’s “Fish Camp Reserve.”
Situated on the 4500 block of Stewart Road on Galveston Island, Palm Bay sits on Lake Como, an inlet of Galveston Bay. The site is bordered by Galveston Country Club—the island’s only golf club—to the east and Galveston Island State Park to the west. Future residents will have access to amenities that emphasize a seaside lifestyle, including convenient beach access and direct bay access for boating and water recreation.
Wan Bridge is a Texas-based developer, builder and manager of build-to-rent communities active in the Dallas and Houston markets.
