HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Madison Marquette has opened The Travis, a new 30-story residential tower in Midtown Houston.
The Travis offers 330 apartment units above 14,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, including a restaurant slated to open in the first quarter of 2021.
Situated adjacent to the MetroRail, the building occupies a 1.16-acre block bounded by Main, Travis, Stuart and Francis streets, just one block south of Elgin Street.
The 375,775-square-foot tower houses one-, two- and three-bedroom residences as well as two-story penthouses.
“We are delighted to introduce The Travis to the Midtown neighborhood of Houston,” said Madison Marquette Principal Rick Kirk. “Our new residences offer Houstonians a best-in-class combination of amenities and design excellence while providing convenient access to local public transit.”
Located between two of the city’s principal employment centers—downtown Houston and the Texas Medical Center—The Travis gives residents a five-minute rail ride north to downtown and about ten minutes south to the medical center. The property also includes a seven-story parking garage.

Madison Marquette acquired the block from the City of Houston in 2015. The city had previously vacated the property; the former structures, since demolished, had housed the city permit department and a police firing range.
Designed by CallisonRTKL, The Travis achieved LEED Gold certification. Apartment interiors feature floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood floors, 10- to 12-foot ceilings, and quartz and granite fixtures throughout.
AECOM Hunt served as general contractor and Goldman Sachs provided financing for the project.
Community amenities include an aqua lounge with conference room, a heated saltwater pool, private cabanas with Bluetooth, fire pits, a grand lawn and a 24-hour fitness center.
Development of The Travis began before the 2018 merger of Houston-based PMRG and Washington, D.C.-based Madison Marquette. As the tower opens, the Houston multifamily market reports an 88.8 percent occupancy rate, according to ApartmentData.com.
Madison Marquette is a private, full-service real estate firm—an investment manager, developer and operator—headquartered in Washington, D.C. The company provides integrated investment, development, leasing and management services across a portfolio of roughly 330 assets in 20 states and manages assets valued at more than $6 billion.
