In Memoriam – Howard Rambin
HOUSTON — J. Howard Rambin III, co-founder of the Houston-based real estate firm Moody Rambin, passed away on August 25, 2024. He was 79 years old.

Mr. Rambin co-founded Moody Rambin with Dan Moody Jr. in 1969. The firm’s first development was a small collection of patio homes near the intersection of Woodway Drive and Potomac. From those modest beginnings, Moody Rambin expanded into a full-service real estate company, developing more than two dozen suburban office buildings as well as retail centers, multifamily housing, hotels and industrial properties.
Over a career that spanned more than five decades, Mr. Rambin played an active role in Houston’s commercial real estate market. He participated in leasing approximately 15 million square feet of office space and helped grow Moody Rambin’s commercial brokerage services into a significant regional operation.
Born in New Orleans in 1945, Mr. Rambin made Houston his home beginning in the 1960s. He graduated from Southern Methodist University and was an active civic leader. He founded the nonprofit Keep Houston Beautiful and was a dedicated supporter of local entrepreneurship and community development initiatives.
