Chef Killen Purchases Former Steakhouse Building in The Woodlands
Killen’s acquired a building in The Woodlands.
HOUSTON – Killen’s Steakhouse has purchased a previously closed restaurant property in The Woodlands and plans to reopen it under the Killen’s name this spring.
The new location, at 1700 Research Dr. in Shenandoah, is an 8,500-square-foot, turn-key restaurant on a 2.35-acre site developed in 2013. Located on one of The Woodlands’ busiest corridors, the property is expected to begin welcoming guests within 60 days.
Killen’s Steakhouse is one of five family-owned concepts operated by Chef Ronnie Killen, a Pearland native who was honored in 2018 as one of the James Beard Foundation’s top chefs in the Southwest.
Founded 13 years ago, Killen’s Steakhouse has earned a reputation across Greater Houston as a premier steakhouse, known for high-quality steaks including Japanese Wagyu, Gulf Coast seafood, and notable desserts. The restaurant was also one of two Greater Houston dining spots named to OpenTable’s 2018 list of the 100 Best Restaurants for Wine Lovers.
In addition to the flagship steakhouse, Chef Killen has developed separate concepts focused on barbecue, burgers, and Mexican cuisine, with locations in Pearland and Houston.
J.J. McDermott and Jon Jamison of NewQuest Properties represented Killen in the transaction. “We showed him one location,” McDermott said, “and then Bob’s Steak & Chophouse closed, so we seized the opportunity. He liked the building from the beginning.”
The seller, TSS Realty LLC, was represented by Mark Raines and Matt Parsons from JLL’s Houston office.
