HOUSTON – Banorte Securities International has moved its U.S. headquarters from New York to a prominent office within Houston’s Galleria.
The firm signed a lease for 10,000 square feet in the 12-story Galleria Financial Center, a central office tower embedded in the Galleria mixed-use complex developed by Hines.
The 252,000-square-foot Galleria Financial Center is one of three office towers in the Galleria complex.
In the transaction, Win Haggard, Brad Beasley and Cameron Colvill of Cushman & Wakefield represented the building ownership, which is affiliated with Azrieli Group and Unilev Management.
Banorte Securities is a subsidiary of Grupo Financiero Banorte, the second-largest financial institution in Mexico. The brokerage offers a full range of services, including mutual funds, equities and fixed-income products.
“Houston’s proximity to a large portion of our client base, its growing economy and its cultural ties to Mexico make it the ideal location for Banorte Securities’ U.S. headquarters,” said Houston-based CEO Xavier Ibarrola.
The new Galleria Financial Center office accommodates 24 full-time Banorte employees and includes room for additional staff as the firm grows.
The Galleria Financial Center is integrated into the mall with office balconies that open onto one of the mall’s expansive atriums. Building amenities include a tenant conference center, pedestrian access to more than 50 dining options and direct connectivity to over 400 retail stores. The complex offers immediate access to two fully renovated Westin hotels and sits near the new Uptown Park and Ride development.
Houston’s Mixed-Use Masterpiece
Located a block west of Loop 610, the Galleria is widely regarded as one of the signature developments by the late Houston developer Gerald D. Hines.
Set on a 52-acre site at the corner of Westheimer and Post Oak, the 3 million-square-foot Galleria draws inspiration from Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. The complex features more than 300 stores and restaurants, two Westin hotels with a combined 900 rooms and an Olympic-size ice skating rink. Hines sold the Galleria in 1999.
The Galleria campus contains three office towers totaling 1,066,117 square feet: the 25-story Galleria Tower I, the 21-story Galleria Tower II and the 12-story Galleria Financial Center.
Banorte’s new headquarters suite at 5075 Westheimer Road was designed by AMB Architects. The open-concept workspace incorporates bright, culturally inspired accents that celebrate both Mexican and Houston influences, including two custom murals measuring 6 by 8 feet.
Banorte also maintains a branch in The Woodlands and plans to expand its presence across Texas as well as into Miami and San Diego over the coming years.
“Relocating our U.S. headquarters to Houston marks a new chapter for Banorte Securities,” said Luis Pietrini, Managing Director of Private Banking at Grupo Financiero Banorte.
