HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Howard Hughes Corp. has opened two new parks within its 11,400-acre Bridgeland master-planned community in northwest Houston.
The Bridgeland community ranked 10th in the nation for new home sales at midyear 2020, according to advisory firm RCLCO. Located in the Cypress area, Bridgeland recorded 425 home sales in the first half of 2020, a 21 percent increase from 351 sales in the same period in 2019.
The two new parks are named Live Oak Park and Celebration Park.
“The addition of these parks fits into our overarching mission to utilize the environment to encourage outdoor activity and enhance health and wellness for residents,” said Heath Melton, Executive Vice President of Master Planned Communities, Residential, The Howard Hughes Corp.
The parks offer a variety of amenities designed to serve families and community members. Features include open green space and a new pavilion with tables and lounge seating. Gas grills are installed to support community gatherings, and custom play areas for children are adjacent to spaces equipped for food truck activations. A dedicated dog park provides off-leash space, while a deck area includes ping pong tables for casual recreation. Unique rain gardens improve stormwater management and create natural landscaping, and bike racks support trail use and encourage cycling throughout the community.
Howard Hughes Corp., based in Houston, is also the developer behind The Woodlands and Summerlin, large master-planned communities that consistently rank near the top in national home-sales lists.
The company recently announced a leadership transition. Paul Layne, the former CEO, has retired after a long career in the Houston real estate industry. David O’Reilly, President and Chief Financial Officer, has been named interim Chief Executive Officer.
As the New York Stock Exchange opened on Monday, shares of Howard Hughes Corp. (HHC) were trading at $58 per share.
