HOUSTON – (Realty News Report) – Restaurateur Kyle Teas is launching a new concept called Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine. The restaurant will occupy the well-known Mockingbird Bistro location at 1985 Welch Street, inside Houston’s Inner Loop.
This new venture evolves from Teas’ previous restaurant, Danton’s Gulf Coast Kitchen, which operated in the 4600 block of Montrose Boulevard within the Chelsea Market complex by the Southwest Freeway. That Chelsea Market location is reportedly slated for demolition to make way for multifamily development.
Eugene’s Gulf Coast Cuisine will take over the space long held by Mockingbird Bistro, which chef John Sheely ran for 15 years before it closed in 2016.
The 4,600-square-foot Eugene’s will incorporate some vintage furnishings from the storied Sonny Look’s Sirloin Inn. The restaurant will also feature what the team describes as Houston’s liveliest bar experience, The Oyster Bar, offering a vibrant atmosphere alongside its Gulf Coast menu.
Teas plans to open Eugene’s in late summer or early fall.
