CYPRESS, Texas – (Realty News Report) – NAI Partners facilitated the acquisition of the Misfit Outpost craft brewery at 16602 Cypress Rosehill Road in Cypress, the former home of The Shack Burger Resort.
Misfit Outpost is the latest addition to a wave of recent brewery openings across the Houston area.
Misfit Outpost, a collaboration between Fortress BeerWorks and Misfit Brewing, opened on Friday, Sept. 3. Situated on a five-acre property, the family- and dog-friendly brewery hosts live music on weekends, offers a burger-focused food menu, and serves beers brewed on-site by Misfit alongside selections from Fortress BeerWorks. Beers are available on the tap wall and in 16-ounce cans for takeout.
Chris Caudill of NAI Partners arranged the sale for Misfit Outpost and also completed the lease for Fortress BeerWorks’ existing location at 2606 Spring Cypress Road in Spring.
“Since opening Fortress three years ago in Spring, the craft beer community’s support has been overwhelming,” said Fortress BeerWorks co-founder and co-owner John O’Hara. “When the right opportunity arose to partner with Juan, help him go pro and get his delicious recipes in front of a wider audience, it was a no-brainer.”
Misfit Outpost began as a homebrew project by founder Juan Sanchez, who built a loyal following by sharing photos of his beers on Instagram. Many of those beers were Hazy India Pale Ales (Hazy IPAs), a style known for intense hop character delivering prominent tropical fruit flavors on a soft, creamy, unfiltered body that can resemble a glass of orange juice.

“While Hazy IPAs are common on supermarket shelves, larger national breweries often can’t or won’t replicate the extreme hop saturation and high dry-hopping rates produced by the leading craft makers,” said Larry Koestler, a craft beer enthusiast, consultant and Houston-based real estate executive. “Fans of Hazy Double IPAs usually travel directly to the source to find the most over-the-top, palate-coating, citrus-forward examples of the style.”
Koestler is Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications at NAI Partners, the commercial real estate services arm of Partners Real Estate Company.
“Houston has a deep and talented homebrew community, and several local professional breweries began as homebrew projects,” Koestler added. “This shared physical location between Misfit and Fortress is the first of its kind here. It’s always exciting to see a homebrewer you’ve followed go pro, and I’m hopeful more homebrewers will take the leap into the commercial scene.”
Over the past eight years, the number of Houston breweries has grown by 344 percent, and total brewery square footage expanded by 179 percent to 652,533 square feet, according to an NAI report released in July.
