HOUSTON – CBRE has been appointed exclusive retail leasing agent for The Star, the residential high-rise redevelopment located at 1111 Rusk in downtown Houston. The 1915 Texaco Building has been transformed into 286 apartments with 26,170 square feet of retail space.
CBRE brokers Rachel Farris, Lacee Jacobs, and Laura Harness will handle retail leasing for The Star on behalf of the property owner, Provident Realty Advisors.
“The Star’s retail spaces present a distinctive opportunity for Houston,” said Lacee Jacobs. “Retail and restaurant sites with rich character and history are rare — most new projects lack that narrative. The Star gives operators a chance to create concepts that build around a meaningful story.”
Designed by the noted architectural firm Warren & Wetmore, best known for New York’s Grand Central Terminal, the building’s sensitive rehabilitation recently earned recognition from the Urban Land Institute with a Development of Distinction Award for historic preservation and adaptive reuse.
Originally executed in a Renaissance Revival style enhanced with Beaux-Arts detailing, The Star features signature architectural elements such as grand exterior arches, soaring 21-foot ceilings, and large original historic windows that provide dramatic interior light and a strong sense of place.
