Wong Group Acquires Former Halliburton Site in Westchase

Halliburton’s Oak Park Campus in Westchase has been sold.

HOUSTON – An investment group led by Lawrence Wong has purchased the former Halliburton Oak Park campus in the Westchase District of west Houston. Halliburton had engaged an auctioneer to facilitate the sale of the 49-acre site.

Located at 10200 Bellaire Boulevard near the Sam Houston Tollway, the property includes a vacant 568,458-square-foot office building, a large fitness center, a five-level parking garage and additional support facilities.

The campus sits close to the west Houston Chinatown area, a busy neighborhood known for its concentration of Asian-oriented businesses, retail and restaurants. Wong has long been active in the Houston market; his past acquisitions include the Arena Towers in Sharpstown during the 1990s. Reports have previously linked him to business relationships with Tan Yu, the investor who acquired the Sienna Plantation acreage in Fort Bend County.

JLL brokers Rudy Hubbard, Kevin McConn, Rick Goings and Dan Bellow represented Halliburton in the transaction. The sale process was conducted in coordination with the Williams & Williams auction firm.

There are no announced plans for redeveloping the site. Given the property’s size and location, it offers a range of potential uses, from office redevelopment and mixed-use projects to adaptive reuse or institutional campus conversion.

“Given its prominent location and size, this site has high potential for any number of uses,” said JLL Managing Director Rudy Hubbard. “However this property is purposed, we look forward to seeing it fully utilized to the benefit of the market and new ownership alike.”

The primary building dates to 1979 and has undergone cosmetic, mechanical and electrical upgrades since 2013, improving its condition and systems compared with its original construction.
